About

Michael left school in 1998 with A-levels in maths, physics & biology. With an aptitude for working with his hands, fixing things and solving problems, engineering was suggested as a possible career path. With this in mind Michael went on to study mechanical engineering at Coventry university with aspirations of becoming an engine designer.

Michael graduated in 2001 with a 2.1 BEng (Hons) degree and began looking for a graduate position in his chosen field. Sadly places were limited, and applications high, and despite reaching the final stages of selection with the likes of Jaguar and Vauxhall, a position was not offered.

Undeterred, and after 2 years of trying, Michael decided to start looking at other options. It had become apparent that a job as a design engineer would have ultimately been a desk job. Michael really wanted to work with his hands, on the tools, and was fortunate enough to be offered the chance to work as an apprentice plumber/heating engineer with his step father Andrew.

This turned out to be a great partnership, with Michael & Andrew working together as a duo for 8 years. Michael gained all of his necessary qualifications along the way, and was Gas Safe Registered (Corgi at the time) by 2006. Andrew decided to retire in 2011, and since then Michael has been operating on his own.

Michael continues to gain experience and is always striving to learn & improve. Most recently in 2024, Michael undertook the Heat Geek Advanced Hydronic Design courses The Awakening & Mastery, further advancing his knowledge of modern low temperature heating design philosophy.
